About this site
iraniangovernment.com is an independent online reference focused on the institutions, officeholders, and political dynamics of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Our goal is to give general readers — students, journalists, analysts, and curious citizens — a clear, neutral, and current explanation of how Iran is governed.
Iran's political system is unusually complex, and reliable English-language explanations are often scattered across academic journals, government documents, and breaking news reports. This site exists to consolidate that material into a single, plainly written resource that is updated as the situation in Iran changes.
Editorial approach
We write in an encyclopedic, descriptive register. We do not advocate for or against the Iranian government, any of its officials, or any foreign government's policy toward Iran. Where reasonable observers disagree about facts or interpretation, we attribute claims to their sources. Where the situation is in flux — as it has been since early 2026 — we say so explicitly and date our claims.
Sources
Our material draws on the 1979/1989 Iranian Constitution, the official websites of Iranian state institutions, the Iran Data Portal at Syracuse University, U.S. Library of Congress country studies, and ongoing reporting by major international news organizations including Al Jazeera, the Associated Press, the BBC, CNN, NBC News, NPR, Reuters, Time, and Iran International.
Independence and affiliation
iraniangovernment.com is privately operated and not affiliated with the Iranian government, any foreign government, any political party, or any advocacy organization. The site is supported by display advertising and the eventual sale of the domain name itself, which is listed for sale through Sedo.
